Chapter 4 ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE

I have administrative experience from project leadership and management, developing research groups, committee work and conference organisation.

As outlined in my CV, I take part in many research projects and have acquired external and internal funding for several. In these projects, I have written and/or contributed to applications for funding, ethical approval and conducted data protection impact assessments. I have lead projects and work packages, designed and organised distribution of surveys, and I have helped develop research groups by recruiting PhD-candidates and post-doctoral researchers.

I have been a member of the Bergen Child Study research group since 2010, when I joined as a student and was offered a part-time position managing the project database, linking the longitudinal datasets, and making data available to researchers. I am still affiliated with the project in a 20% position as senior researcher, and I have the main responsibility for the research database. During my affiliation with the Bergen Child study research group, we have managed to create several projects that are descendants of the Bergen Child Study and we have obtained funding for PhD- and post-doctoral candidates that have contributed to growing and developing the research group.

I took a major role in writing the application for the project Social inequalities, educational attainment and mental health funded with 5.9MNOK from the Research Council of Norway where I was post-doctor. I was responsible for writing applications for ethical approval and for register linkage and for the process of linking data from the Bergen Child Study to the national education database and income register maintained by Statistics Norway. This project is ongoing with me as principal investigator (Linkage of to national registries for education), and we obtained internal funding of 0.2MNOK to refresh and maintain the linked data. This involved conducting a data protection impact assessment (DPIA) that I was responsible for.
I was main supervisor for the PhD project After the divorce that obtained funding of 3MNOK, and I am main supervisor for the PhD-project Potential traumatic events and use of health services funded by Stavanger University Hospital. I was involved in designing both projects and in writing the applications for funding. I have made written contributions to two applications for post-doctoral positions (Project Perfect, Drop-out from school: Risks and Protective factors) that was both externally funded by the Extra/Dam foundation. I am now work package leader and co-investigator in the Longtrends project, recently externally funded by the Norwegian Research Council (12MNOK). We were able to fund two PhD-positions and one post-doctor now being recruited that I will supervise/mentor. I have obtained internal funding for one student scholarship (25KNOK) awarded by the University of Bergen.

I am currently affiliated with the Public mental health research group at the Department of Psychosocial sciences. I have experience from several other projects. I was principal investigator and responsible for one project where we surveyed the living conditions of 5-10th graders in Askøy, Fjell, Sund and Øygarden municipalities (0.5MNOK). In this project I wrote the tender offer, developed the survey, administered the investigation, analysed the data and published a report with the results [55] in collaboration with colleagues at RKBU Vest. I am co-investigator in a project where we investigate health and development of unaccompanied minor refugees in collaboration with the municipality of Bergen [56]. This project received funding from RKBU Vest and the Wøyen foundation (50KNOK). I am co-investigator and drafted the application for the New patterns — safe upbringing project [35] funded with 7MNOK from the Norwegian research council. In this project we restructure and coordinate services to low-income families in collaboration with 10 municipalities in Agder country and Stavanger municipality and evaluate whether this reorganisation improves functional outcomes, health and well-being for the children and adults in these families. I also co-supervise one PhD-candidate in the project Internalizing problems in foster youth: Integrating research- and experience-based knowledge where the aim is to investigate mental health problems and improve services for foster children.

As detailed in my CV, I was professionally responsible for one national conference on Children’s living conditions in 2015, and I am part of the scientific and organisational committee for the upcoming national Norwegian conference on Social and Community Psychology, that Department of Psychosocial Science will host in November 2020. I have since 2019 been a member of the committee revising the study plan for the Professional studies in psychology degree in agreement with the new guidelines for education in health and social science (Rethos)24. In this group, I have had a particular responsibility for the changes related to community psychology in the curriculum and the courses taught at the Department of Psychosocial Science. I am also coordinating the evaluation committee for the position as post-doctor in the longtrends project.

I am eager to further develop as a researcher. In 2020, I was accepted into the national psychology Program for young research leaders and look forwards to further developing and refining my skills in research leadership.
